2001

Bloomington, IN (Indiana University) – Josh Gilmore overhears Mitch Strohm fiddling on the guitar at the other end of the dorm hall. The strangers decide to mix their music abilities and test it with an extensive jam session. The creative vibe is right. They start thinking less about school, and more about music.

2002

Mitch and Josh start collaborating and writing original material. Several songs are born immediately, which they showcase at an open mic at their dorm the following week. They win 1st place.

They decide to take the music to a more public spot – the coffee shop downtown. There are no parking spots before the show. It takes them 20 minutes to park. The band name is born.

A song called “You Said” is recorded in Josh’s dorm room using a garage sale microphone. It becomes a popular song among friends and dorm neighbors.

They quickly learn the good places to play… and the bad ones.

They record their first demo CD in a trailer in Southern Indiana for $300.

2003

Things begin to take shape as a real business. A legal partnership is created, a bank account is setup, and reference books are purchased in mass quantities. 20 Minutes to Park becomes completely DIY.

2004

Josh and Mitch take on regional touring, with dates in Indianapolis, Chicago, Cincinnati, Evansville, and Detroit.  A love for the road soon follows.

2005

Both graduate from Indiana University and continue their studies criss-crossing the U.S. Late-night talks with waitresses, bartenders, and new fans prove to be educational and rewarding.

They realize that there are still great people in the world.

2006

It’s a busy year, which is spent mostly behind the steering wheel.

“Can’t Stand Still” gets recorded in Indianapolis. They record the 8-song EP on their own.

2007

A national radio campaign takes shape, with 140 radio stations playing tracks from “Can’t Stand Still”.

More dotted white lines, truck-stops, fights with girlfriends, and van sleeping.

2008

The van breaks down. Gigs fall through. Money is lost. They run out of gas 20 miles from home. Road burn-out kicks in. They decide to take a breather.

“Darlin’” and “Own Wind to Sail” are recorded in Indianapolis, but are never released. They aren't heard until a year later.

Time passes slowly. They seek a new game-plan.

2009

The new year brings new opportunities.

20MTP officially moves to Nashville.

They pay rent for the first time in 4 years, thanks to the van, family, friends, and girlfriends that let them live for free for so long.

The two-man team decides to record some new material.

“Australia” is recorded and released as a part of a Microsoft Windows free music campaign. It’s downloaded by thousands of people, which fuels the fire.

Following the release of “Australia”, they release one new song each week for free. It was time to give back to all of the fans that supported them for 7 years and welcome new ones.

The new album, “Changin’ Tones”, is officially released on November 17, 2009, with a CD Release Party at 3rd and Lindsley in Nashville, TN.

The year ends on a high note. It's the most enlightening year of their career.

2010

10,000 hours of work are completed.
